GENERAL ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS / GUIDELINES

• All Boarders, Logos & Text must be at least 3mm away from trim line

• Background either white or coloured, etc must extend to full bleed area.

• Do not use an outline on the boarder of the artwork.

• Do not use fonts / text size smaller that size 7.

• All text must be converted to curves / paths.

• Do not use trim / crop marks, unless specified.

• All colours must be in CMYK.

• Full Black Backgrounds must be made up of 50% Cyan and 100% Black.

•  DO NOT USE RGB, PANTONE or SPOT COLOURS.

• All clipart images, bitmaps, scans etc must be in CMYK colours.

• All Bitmaps / Scans must be in a Tiff format in CMYK colours.

• Each card must be on a separate file & one up only.

• Do not use any trim / crop marks.

• Supply a CorelDraw 10 or 14 / Freehand 10 or MX file for PC.

• PDF for Pre Press is also acceptable.

• Photoshop - Flattened Image, Canvas/image size must include 1.5mm Bleed

• For complex designs please supply a Tiff file, 300Dpi in CMYK colours.

• If you have a problem to save as a Tiff, a Jpeg of 400Dpi in CMYK colours is acceptable.

• Note: for Gradient fills, complex designs, etc we would use the Tiff Image.

• Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel files are not compatible can not be used for printing.

Such artwork will be recreated, should you prefer that we recreate the artwork, a cost of R 150.00 per hour will apply.

BUSINESS CARD SIZE AND BLEED SPECIFICATION

Please note the following size specifications when preparing cards for print.
Supply one up only, Front and Back of cards must be on separate files.
Separate files for each type or person.
Convert all text to curves / paths ans use only CMYK colours.
Do not use trim / crop marks for these cards.

Actual Card Size:50mm x 90mm
Bleed Allowance:1.5mm all round
Total Size including Bleed: 53mm x 93mm

URGENT BUSINESS CARDS SPECIFICATIONS:

These cards can vary in size with no extra cost:
Refer to Urgent Business Card Prices.
Card Sizes: 90mm X 50mm, 90mm X 55mm, 85mm X 50mm  or 85mm X 55mm.
Supply one up only, Front and back of cards on must be on separate files.
Separate files for each type or person.
Add a 3mm Bleed on each side.  
Convert all text to curves / paths ans use only CMYK colours.
Supply urgent cards as a PDF for Pre Press with Trim Marks

Definition Of "Bleed"
When your design has any part of an image extending to the edge of the card, the image is extended
beyond the trim line. This extended part of the image is known as "bleed". The reason this is done is to
allow a degree of tolerance for the trimming process.
ie: if the card is trimmed slightly outside the trim line, there would be no white showing.

Borders
It is not advisable to have borders too close to the trim line. If you do have a border very close to the edge
and the card is trimmed even slightly skew, the border can make the card look very skew. A minimum margin
should be  at least 3 mm away from the trim line.
